About Us

Founded in 1956, Cliff Avenue United FC has grown into the largest boys & girls youth soccer Club in Burnaby, this could not have been possible without the commitment and dedication of past and present Volunteer Coaches, Team Managers, Stadd and Members of the Board.

We provide the most programs for both recreational and competitive players. The club has a code of conduct that must be adhered to by staff,  Coaches, players and parents. The most important person in our club is the player.  Our focus is on player development and working together as a Club. Our Club takes priority over any individual team.  We have one of the most comprehensive bylaws of any sports Club. A copy of our bylaws and policy is available on our web site under the Docs & Forms link. Our accounts are reviewed annually by a qualified chartered accounting firm. Financial information on the club is available by contacting our treasurer.

All our players (U5 – U18) receive a full uniform and ball to keep. This cost is included in registration.

We are proud to have the only indoor soccer program in Burnaby. Both our U6 & U7 boys and girls play indoors at Canlan Indoor Soccer Center ( 8-Rinks) and Fortius indoor gym.

We ensure that our house teams are balanced teams so that no one team dominates.

During the season we run extra development sessions for U8 to U12 boys and girls  with Excel Soccer at the Canlan Indoor Soccer Center (8-Rinks), special goalkeeping  sessions and an Academy and Prospects program for U10 to U12′s.

We have a spring development camp for U6 to U10 players from April to June.

Goalkeeper clinics are run by Ultimate Soccer School and are hosted by Dino Alberti  (formerly a New York Cosmos goalie of the NASL).

Paid staff coaches that work with all players and coaches within the Club.

Coaching certification provided by BC Soccer and paid by the Club.

Mission Statement

Cliff Avenue United FC, is a youth soccer club for boys and girls of all abilities. We strive to create an atmosphere of fun, equality, fairness, and fair play. We will endeavor to make our youth appreciate the game of soccer and teach them life skills such as teamwork, commitment, dedication, personal achievement, and physical fitness. We will foster an atmosphere of development for all players, Coaches, referees, and administrators so that they may achieve their highest potential based on their own skill and desire.

Corporate Governance

Cliff Avenue United FC has one of the most comprehensive bylaws of all clubs in the Province as it relates to corporate governance and accountability and transparency. Our management and independent controls surpass all requirements by BC Soccer Association and Burnaby District as noted:

The Board of Directors cannot include any related parties.

  • The treasurer of the Club must be a qualified accountant: CA, CGA or CMA
  • Internal financial statements are prepared by a qualified accountant who is not a board member.
  • Club financials are reviewed annually by an independent Chartered Accountants firm.
  • The Club has an online database registration system that only accepts credit card or cheque payments. No cash payments are accepted by the Club.
  • The Club is restricted from borrowing any funds.
  • A Finance committee of three people (of which one is the Treasurer of the Club and two are non board members) oversees the financial operations of the Club.
